What Is an Enrolled Agent?
Enrolled agents (EAs) are tax practitioners who are licensed by the federal government. They have a comprehensive knowledge of tax code and are equipped to prepare all types of tax returns. They also have unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before all levels of the IRS.
To earn the license, EAs must pass an examination or have five years’ experience working for the IRS. EAs must complete continuing education to maintain the enrolled agent status.

Nathan J. Siegrist
President and owner of Gehman Accounting, Nathan has been involved in the tax and accounting fields since 1999. He holds a bachelor’s in accounting from the Pennsylvania College of Technology. While in college, he worked for two accounting firms where he gained practical experience. He started his own business, Provident Tax Accounting, in 2005, and later acquired Gehman Accounting, merging the two companies in 2008. Nathan’s leadership and experience make Gehman Accounting a quality tax firm.
Daniel began a career in accounting at Provident Tax Accounting, which merged with Gehman Accounting in 2008. He helps clients with tax planning and specializes in preparing tax returns for small businesses and partnerships. During his elementary school days, Daniel loved math and his dad encouraged him to pursue a career in accounting. He holds a B.S. in accounting and business administration from Franklin University in Ohio.
Kevin Byma, CPA
Kevin has worked in the accounting and tax fields since 2001. He holds an M.B.A. from Pace University and a master’s degree in economics from Lehigh University. He is also a CPA licensed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. In 2014 he began employment at Gehman Accounting where he specializes in preparing business tax returns. During the spring and summer, Kevin enjoys playing softball with his church league.
Jay Martin, EA
Jay began working for Gehman Accounting in 2012 and was licensed as an enrolled agent in 2013. As a member of the tax division, Jay provides tax planning and prepares tax returns for individuals and businesses. He enjoys working with businesses involved in trucking as well as other small businesses. For twelve years, he owned his own small trucking company where he learned to enjoy the paperwork side of business.
Joseph Mast, EA
Joseph has been preparing tax returns since 2006 after he retired from teaching science and computing at Eastern Mennonite University. He was licensed as an enrolled agent in 2009. He prepares all types of individual tax returns, including returns for self-employed individuals operating a business or farm. As a retired senior, he is very familiar with issues related to senior taxpayers. He also enjoys working with farmers since he grew up on a dairy farm. After tax season he works part-time for High Transit LLC as an escort for oversize loads transporting steel beams.
Ashley Miller, EA
Ashley provides critical interpretation of tax law and prepares tax returns of all types. He specializes in preparing returns for partnerships, corporations, estates, and trusts. He also represents clients during audits of state and federal income tax, employment tax, and sales tax. A veteran tax professional, he is an expert resource for all of the tax services at Gehman Accounting. Ashley joined Gehman Accounting in 2004 and has been an active enrolled agent since 2006.
Matthew likes interacting with clients, whether it’s meeting them in person or talking to them on the phone. He prepares tax returns for individuals, farmers, and small businesses. He began working in the accounting field in 2005 at Provident Tax Accounting, which later merged with Gehman Accounting. He earned a B.S. in accounting from Pennsylvania College of Technology in 2009.
Sheldon Zimmerman, EA
Sheldon joined Gehman Accounting in 2014 as a tax preparer and bookkeeper. He first discovered his love for accounting by working in the office of a solid wood manufacturer for six years. Later he worked for Weaver Accounting in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, while he took a college accounting course in the evenings. Sheldon especially enjoys working with farmers and preparing their tax returns.
